General Information
Wishaw General Hospital is the acute hospital in NHS Lanarkshire. Following a merger for trauma with University Hospital Hairmyres and University Hospital Monklands during the COVID-19 pandemic, Wishaw is the only receiving site for trauma. During on calls you will be contacted by the emergency departments at both Monklands and Hairmyres. You are not expected to attend either of these sites as the on call orthopaedic trainee. If something requires urgent, in person review, they can be transferred to Wishaw or the on call consultant can be contacted to review the patient at the other site.
Wishaw General Hospital opened in 2001 and houses 633 beds. Paediatric patients requiring Orthopaedic intervention are treated at Wishaw General as long as they are over 5 years old.
